Turning of the Wheel

I just got done talking to my online group of witches and yes, those that belong to the group are to be considered as such. Actually this is not my online group, but I am just one member among the many.

Thursday nite, we are to meet for coffee and thursday nite is also the Solstice, which occurs at 6:22 pm on the 22nd. Now this represents the "Turning of the Wheel", a time when night and day are equal and the changing of the seasons. Some also consider this the beginning of the new year. This is a sacred time of the year for us. So, we are sitting there at our PCs thinking what can we do. I suggest we all sit at a round table holding hands and do a little prayer type of thing. Another suggests someone dance upon the table, one among us is a belly dancer, so I suggest she comes in her bangles and beads and her 7 veils and perform for us dancing all around the coffee shop or maybe dancing on the table. But then reality sets in, who in Heavens name invited him here anyways.

So we think we move this whole thing to someones back yard and have a bonfire and the whole nine yards, but it's kind of too late to change the event. Sometimes the best events are the ones that are spontaneous. So it is back to the coffee table with plain old coffee, no wine, women and song. No naked dancing by the light of the moon. Who said anything about naked dancing. No dancing around the bonfire. No wine, no mead and no beer. Not to even mention that which cannot be mentioned.

No matter what happens, I know it will be fun, because we are a group of dark gregarious witches and we will make each other laugh and we will be merry. And isn't that the purpose of celebrating the Solstice, to create merriment to celebrate the passing of the Solstice.

So mote it be.
